IH 1660 unloader auger

Wont retract after unloading. Went out just fine but not even trying to retract. I put a rope out on the end and gave it a couple of tugs in case it was stuck, but that is not the problem. I know there is a two wire limiter switch that it pushes in when fully in the cradle that stops it...switch moves freely, is in position, and I have no idea how it works exactly for checking voltages. Suspect there must be continuity to both sides when auger is extended and lever is operated to make it retract??? What about other sources of trouble? Any suggestions? Appreciate any help!

Dave check down on the valve stack. I have had wires come off of some functions to were they would work one way but not the other. Have some one work the switches and see if they energize the coils. Just hold a screw driver or a steel wrench on the end of each valve/coil You can feel if they are working electrically.

On mine there is another switch mounted on the edge of the bin, near the turret, which, if I remember correctly, is activated when auger is out. I suspect something is amiss with that switch.

Indeed it was the valve stack. I had talked to my CIH service manager and also the guy who sold me the combine a couple years ago. Helps to buy locally and keep contact with sellers. Anyway, the PO also told me to have a look at the valve stack. I remembered this as being under a step just outside the cab AND I remember that it was packed full of chaff soaked in hydraulic fluid. I have been trying to chase down some hydro leaks and needed this area clean so I got in there with some brushes and spray a few weeks back and cleaned things up good. Somehow in all this I pulled apart a Packard connector without seeing it. Wire colors matched and the male side was half clean/half grubby so it had clearly been connected at some point. I plugged it in, started the combine and operated the lever. Got distracted by something before I realized the auger was back in it's cradle. Ran it back and forth...works good now.

So we ran a sample off the small field outside the barn. Only one hitch. But that is another post. I thank everyone for the help.
