I have been having pretty good luck with my 6620 combining corn up until this afternoon when Murphy caught up with me. I had a nearly full bin and was making one more pass across the field when the old beast just stopped moving and began to sink and there I was with both front wheels settling into a mud hole. Not just a mud hole but one of those that have a hard block in front and in the back. I could move back and forward about 3 feet and that was it. Even though my combine has rear wheel assist it could not pull itself over the blockage.
Fortunately my son was nearby and came with a tractor and after a few tries we were able to get unstuck. By now it is dark and both our grain carts and the bin on the combine are full and the grain hauler has not arrived to take the corn to the elevator. So there sits 25 to 30 tons of grain out in the night air without any cover. All I can hope is that Murphy is done with me for now and we do not get any rain before the truck gets here
