Gleaner K in corn

I've noticed the past couple years I've been getting small pieces of trash in my shelled corn, usually its small pieces of shuck or the upper part of the stalk near the tassel. When I first got this machine the corn was super clean but now things have changed. I've not opened any sieves or anything, I did turn my fan speed up more hoping that would blow it out but didn't help. I could understand more trash if I had made adjustments and messed things up, anyone know why it would up and start doing this? Every time I think I've figured this machine out it reminds me I haven't )

I've had seasons when those little pieces of stalk (a little bigger than a pencil) end up in the bin. I think that's something about the corn variety and/or weather, effecting how the plant grows/matures/harvests.

I would agree with Bob. I have had the same problem in the past and, like you I had not changed my combine's settings. I noticed it more often this year than last and that is because we had a very dry growing season and the corn stalks are not as large as in a normal year.

I would not be changing anything unless it is so bad that they want to dock you at the elevator.

That's what I was thinking, we have been very dry and the stalks are breaking up. Pretty much the top third of the stalk and the ear is going through the combine. You think slowing down a little might help? Give it more time to separate?
