L 2 won't start

Went to fire up the L2 the other day and it started up, but the throttle response was very erratic,but if you could get it to hold still, it would run ok. Went to start it again yesterday and it won't start at all now. It is getting fuel,and it will hit on starting fluid. It is getting 12v to the pump. Hoping to get some more ideas of things to check to get it running again. Thanks
 
What model injection pump do you have, DB, or DM? DM does not have the retainer ring trouble the DB has. Both can have trouble with internal parts sticking, causing low or no fuel to the injectors. Metering valve, delivery valve, plungers and regulating piston to name a few. If there has been any water or bio fuel used that make the problem worse, and a complete tear down, cleaning and reseal may be needed. I've seen the governor weights with so much crud buildup they would not even fall out of the cage before..

When I get one in that's covered in it.. its straight to the HOT acid tank for 24 hrs.
The parts are manageable then..
What are you using.??
 
I've got some carb cleaner that works well. Next really bad one I want to try soaking over night in gas, that should loosen that crap up. If not, then just light it and watch it burn! LOL
