105 Deere concave rod?

I just put my Deere 105 in the shop to get ready to do corn with it. It has never done corn or beans before. I was getting ready to change the front of the concave to the corn position when I noticed that the concave has every other rod missing from the concave. My 95 corn special has every rod in the concave. Do I need to install the missing rods before I do corn? It did a great job in small grain without them. It has all the side to side bars but is missing every other round rod that run parallel to the sides of the machine. Thanks Tom

Tom in the early JD 6620 and 7720 combines we pulled every other wire out of the early concaves to allow more corn out. Then they cam out with the 13 bar concave and we did not have to do it on them. So I would try it without the wires.

Thanks. We put a new concave in our 95 this fall and it had every other rod missing and I pulled them out of the old one. I thought it might be ok without but wanted others opinion. I did not want to have to pull the feederhouse to install them latter when right now it is off and they are looking at me. Tom

My 95 shows evidence of every other rod being gone.Every other hole is wallered. The rods are in there now. wondering what the 'deal' was?
