IH 1460 your thoughts

I am looking to buy a IH1460 .I have heard that they are a good machine.I have been using JD6600 for yrs and I am wanting too go a different director .
I under stand that there is a lot less moving parts in 1460 and better ground speed and less seed loss, and less maintains then the 6600,
So what is your thought on this?

They are a good machine. The 1460 will have more capacity for sure. But the loss out the back depends on YOU not the machine. The 1460 will be easier to maintain but any combine that old is not going to give you a free ride as you probably know already. And you would be stepping up comfort wise with the centered cab.

take someone along that knows axial flows, elephant ears, vanes, the cone, auger blocks/beds ,rotor cage and grates are some of the things to look for, they are pretty easy to work on and will make very nice shelled corn

I am a "green guy," but I do have respect for the axial flow combines. Close friend of mine has been a "green guy," too, but his combines have always been red. If you are going to use this machine in soybeans, I do know my friend made a huge improvement in his 1460 when he updated it with the "specialty rotor." It truly made that machine into a very good machine in soybeans. I recall he had issues with the material coming into the machine and "roping" around the rotor. With the green stems we have today in our soybeans, the updates he made to that machine are very important for harvest. I do like our 9500, as it is a large capacity machine, however, there are times when I have some frustrations with it.

Any idea how your 9500 compares capacity-wise to your friend's 1460? I noticed a low houred 9500 coming up on auction but I'm not sure how it would compare to my 1460.
