Gleaner flex head

I am running a 313 flex head on an F3 without the height control module. I just control it manually. Works good. if the field is smooth I hardly ever touch the hydraulics across the field. The sickle assembly moves vertically about 6" or so. I try to drop it down about 3/4 of the way leaving some room for float. If the auto header control were hooked up, at what height would it run?

Doug it is adjustable. So you can run it lower in the range of float or higher. It depends on how tall the crop is and or how muddy the ground is. Soft ground and you will need to raise the header up some to put less pressure on the ground.

Height would stay the same, because the sickle has that 6 inch range, it would always be on the ground. The header itself would be higher if your auto height knob is set at medium or high. At the higher settings the flex sheets just after of the knife are a bit steeper. As JD said, soft field conditions would require a hi or med. setting. Having said that, I run my M3 with a 315 exactly like you do with similar results. Ben
