I am going to back my combine out of the shed and put the corn head on. It looks like I may begin to start corn in a week or so. I do not expect a big harvest as we had a long, hot dry summer. Most of the corn looks like it will be of poor quality due to the drought with only modest sized ears and a lot of nubbins. A lot of the stalks have been dead for weeks but in the same field there is still some late spouting corn that has green leaves.
I know I may be a little to early to get the lowest moisture percentage but I am a little nervous about heavy rain or worse, snow. The price of corn is so low that I doubt that I will get my input money back but I will take what I can get. Since I only have 100 acre my 6620 titan 2 should make short work of it. Hmmm, have I said that before? Happy farming.
