Tailings elevator is full of trash that is light enough that it should be going out the back. Fan is as fast as it will go. No matter how I set the sieves the amount of trash in the tailings does not change. There are no unthreshed beans in the trash nor any beans at all in the tailings. Sieves are not damaged. Any suggestions will be appreciated. I believe it has a "long finger" sieve

Everyone in my area eastern Illinois is having the same
Trouble
I think it's just more plant material than normal because the beans were so tall

Is the fan actually going very fast???? The bearing on the adjuster sets on a small shoulder on the outer half of the cast pulley. The bearings will wear that shoulder down to where the pulley will not close as much as it should. So the fan will not go as fast as it needs to. With the fan turned up as fast as it will go the belt should be at the top of the to pulley. If it is down in the pulley something is wrong. Either worn sheave or bad bearing.

Also is the trash small or larger??? If it is larger stuff then check the finger grate on the back of the concave. If the fingers are not good it can let too much stuff fall down onto the chaffer.

Also if the conditions are real dry the trash maybe breaking up too much in the concave. You may need to slow down the cylinder and/or slow the cylinder speed down.

I would still check the fan speed first.

In the picture the sheave I am talking about is in shadow print in the upper right corner.

Dugger, you ask about my Deere 435 cornhead awhile back. I still have it and it is in perfect condition. I took it off outside so has been rained on now for the first time in the twelve years I have owned it. Paint is almost perfect and sheet metal is good. I do not want to scrap it so I would take $200 for it. Tom

I ran into this on the JD 9500. The outer bearing was out. I couldn't get it to go fast enough to get a clean sample. I checked the adjuster motor and saw that loose outer bearing was keeping it from moving the sheaves all the way together.
