Could someone please explain to me how to
bolt the feeder house clutch. The electric
clutch has stopped working.

There are two threaded holes in the outer Primary counter shaft pulley. You will need to turn the platform drive until these threaded holes line up with two holes through the electric clutch assembly. Then you install the lock out bolts/pins until they are into the inter half of the electric clutch. Your operators manual should show you how to do this. If IRC correctly the pins/bolts have a slight taper on the one end. The a screw driver slot on the other. You turn them in and then lock them with a jam nut on the out side.

I have never installed them in a JD 4400. I have used them in a JD 6600 and 7700. The older JD 95 and 105 used them when running the older corn heads. They pulled harder then the electric clutch would pull.

I am putting a quik tach feederhouse on my 105 this fall and plan to run a 444 corn head. Do I need the lockout studs? I always used them on my 95 with the older 435 cornhead. Thanks Tom

Tom the JD 40 series headers usually pull easy enough that the electric clutch will pull them. I ran a JD 95 with a JD 444 without the pins/bolts. The older heads just pulled harder. It also depends on how hard your going to push the machine in 200 bushel corn too. The corn stalks that today's hybrid have are tough!!!

Tom, we ran a 643 on a 105, and never needed to lock the electric clutch. Nor did we with the old 635N. We did a lot of big corn, too. I would think the only issue would be if you had down corn. The 444 should be fine- a big improvement over a 35 series head.

I was going to try it without but was afraid of damaging the electric clutch. We bought a 444 with the single side drive and all Deere poly. We do grow 200 bu corn but I do not get in a big hurry. Tom

We have the 200+ bu corn this year but I never run fast anyway. Last year we ran a 95 with a 435 head and in good corn it was low gear almost as slow as it would go. Most days I run 1000-1500 bu depending on how much help I have to run my Deere 550 batch dryer. We have enough crop rotation that we do not need to plant triple stack corn but all corn seems to have stalks that are better than years ago. Tom
