Claas 106 combine video

Oli, good to see the old 106 still going strong. Your probably rained off for a few days now? I'm still running a 1680, but again this year really thinking about finding a Claas and was thinking about asking you how the 106 was running. There is a 108 for sale in AB. and a couple of 116's....one in MB. I don't know much about the CS cylinder system though.

I've been keeping my eyes open for another one too, there are getting fewer around, CA system is ok from what I've heard. Some parts are getting hard to find from my 106, couldn't find a variable speed pulley set up for my pick up belts, so I made a work around, one speed only now. I'm sure I could get new parts but didn't bother trying... I'll say one thing for Claas, they seem to have most parts available new if you can wait and have a big enough cheque book.
How's dealer support for MF or Claas in your corner of the world? That Would be my biggest concern.

Nice video oj. I haven't really took time to post here since I took my job running heavy equipment full time back in January. Nobody down here runs pick up heads but it looks like it would be easier on the operator than a conventional platform. I have to be honest,That cracked windshield would drive me insane! When I bought my 76 it had a cracked windshield too.Claas put double pane glass in the late 642's and the Dominators. The early 642's had a single pane tempered glass and they didn't seem to crack as bad. My local glass shop cut me a single pane for $120 and it worked great.I talked to the guy I sold my 76 to last week and he had just finished his corn.He was tickled to death with it and said it didn't give him any trouble at all. When I saw combines running this year I missed it--for about two seconds! I love my steady paycheck and don't miss the hurry up and wait of harvest time at all.I think back from time to time about ALL the rebuilding every year I went through on my combines and wonder how many years it has took off of my life. All i need now is for scrap iron to go back up so I can get rid of a bunch of this blue painted sheet metal I have laying around. Good luck with harvest,May it be a big one for you.

I keep waiting for the window to fail completely, but it's been this way for the 10 plus years I've had the machine, maybe I'm too tight to change it...
I have a Massey straight cut header too, but this year we swathed the wheat in an attempt to get it in dry, had a weird year, lots of immature heads this year...

Will have to get a hold of you by email one of these days, I need to modify my straight cut header like you did a couple of years ago.

Yeah, parts are my biggest concern. There's a 1987 116cs Commander on kijiji in Gladstone MB. No price just says open to offers.

I saw that one too... thought about it, they are a nice machine but support will be an issue, I wouldn't want that to be my only machine... the 108's at least have support through MF, the CD combines are Claas only, and a completely different beast. I'd love it as a second machine but can't really justify it acres wise...

There is a Claas 106 for sale at St Micheal AB (east of Edmonton) if it is still there. Has been a couple of months since I been that way but will likely be going through there this week.
