Replacing shaker bushings on 1420..

Chaffer and shoe sieves out, have all the bushigs. Can any one share what they've learned about what to do and what not to do? I do know they need to all be in the center of the stroke beofre tightening down bolts, but I'm sure there is plenty more.

It?s been a few years since I did them, but I?ve done 1440 and 1680 bushings, assume 1420 would be similar. Yes, you do have to align them centrally (mid stroke) before you tighten, and watch they shake square if you get what I mean. I think Case has a special tool to centralize them, but I just eyeballed and they were ok. Make a note of which washers come off which arms, and put it back how it was, so it is central side to side inside the machine, as well as central on the arms.
I pushed the bushings in and out with a 20t hydraulic shop press and they went pretty easy. The hardest arm to get too is the one behind the clean grain elevator. You have to unbolt the piece of frame rail and kind of maneuver it out, then you can pull out the cotter pin and take the arm out of the needle bearing. The other arms are all pretty easy to get to. While you?ve got the sieves out, examine them very closely for any cracks especially around the mounting points. Also examine the sieve side mounting rails for cracks or damage. My sieves and sieve rails were cracked, so I had to weld and strengthen them up.
