Serviced the choppers today...

With silage cutting just around the corner, I greased the choppers today- a NH 240 with a 3 row head, and a Fox MAx II that gets used to open fields. We are about ready
to go.

Some things have gotten simpler over the years... that Fox has no less than 40 grease zerks on the head alone, and 12 gathering chains- all for 3 rows! It was king in
it's day (1974), but some things have gotten simpler and easier as time moves on.

Anyway, things will be moving soon. How about in other neighborhoods???

Starting chopping Wednesday - its drying down really fast in NE WI.....this last week it went from green to yellow. I don't think I've seen crops this good in years. Every thing did great - have hay and corn coming out of my rear.

I look forward to oiling and greasing my Fox every 2.5 hours of operation, according to the lube chart....lol...there are alot of zerks!

I just bought an Allis Chalmers 780 chopper and we serviced it yesterday(a toy). We have one wagon in the shop and a 1075 wagon gear that will go under the 714A wagon. Hope to change heads on the 3940 and get it ready monday as well.We might start the end of this week and some here in the southwest corner of WI are started. Biggest project I have is 2000 bu of rye and oats that need cleaned and a cleaner that is in someone elses shop. Tom

Hey Tom, here is that old Fox gasser I got from you. Still chugging along, chopping straw and drinking plenty of gas.

I found a cab from a scrapper - looks kinda good on it!

Glad to it still running and that cab makes it look big. Sometimes I wish I would have kept it and put a two row snapper head on it. Thanks for posting pics of it. Tom
