Cracked a cylinder bore in the original BD220. Water backed up through intake, boogering up more cylinders. Popped the head off and found a couple burned valves along with a gnarly-looking pushrod. Bad news: Block is trashed. Good news: All other parts are available and relatively affordable since it's a pickup truck engine.
However, I've been brainstorming about a diesel swap. Stock is D236, but those are hard to finder to find than, say, D282s.
My question: Would a D282 be too much power for a late-model 101? Any other problems I'm not thinking of? Shoot, anyone have a D236 or BD220 laying around?
