IH McCormick 181 Corn Special.

I went and looked at a IH McCormick 181 on Wednesday near New Ulm Minnesota.
It's been sitting in a shed for the last 20 years and the engine is locked up but we filled the cylinders full of diesel and we are letting it soak for now.
The ID pad on the block isn't making any sense to me so we are not sure which engine it has.
Otherwise it's a pretty straight 181.

How does a guy post photos on here.
I tried but no success.

Heres a scan of some 181 IH sales literature that I picked up as a kid at our local IH dealer around 1960....It
says the bore is 3 and 11/16ths and the stroke is 4 and 1/8th which is 264 cubic inches....Its rated at 80
horsepower and turns 2000 rpms....The 151 had the same engine rated at 75 horsepower..

As for posting pictures I do it the old fashioned way....I move them from my camera to my hard drive and then
to my Tinypics photo album....I then copy and paste the picture (direct link for layouts) to here and put it in the
optional image URL box...

I'm probably going to buy it.
We just need to get it running first.
I don't think I will find one this nice
anywhere.

I think it's my computer but I must have tried uploading photos 15 times and it just won't work for me.

The front machine was stuck but I got the back one to move two years ago. I tried buying both, but could never get very far with the man. I have been looking for him to repost it for his number. Good Luck,
and if you decide to pass on it, I would like to try again for a third time!!

No Case. Isn't the father Matt, and the son Dan? Are the 181's in an old tin quonset type building with a W-9 way up front? When I was there he had two, the very front one was for parts. I am trying to collect everything that goes with the 560. I did not mention these particular combines when you posted earlier as I was hoping I would find them again. (I am four hours South). I might have an extra parts book that I bought laying around if you do indeed get one/two of them bought. I wish you luck! David

There must be......maybe the third time could be a charm for me. I will let you and the forum know if I have any luck. Good luck on your find as well.
