CaseIH 5088 working through some wheat

At the end of the day, and the end of this 25 acre field. 5088 with a 35 foot direct cut head. Good thing this was the last pass , starting to get tough as the sun goes down. My friend John owns the combine , my field. We did this on share crop. I don't have a grain table for my combine , and no one swaths wheat here. My self, I just want the straw. Hay and straw are in short supply here with our very dry summer. I baled right behind the combine, we both finished the same time.

Bruce that is some nice clean straw. I always like raising/combining wheat. Around here is just will not compete with corn or soybeans for income per acre even selling the straw. This is the reason there are few oats raised around here too. The straw can be as valuable as the grain here some years.

Its always nice to get wheat and straw finished up. I'm done combining but only half way done baling. We are small square baling all of it so it takes a bit longer. We got a little rain Friday through the night so that slowed us down a bit.

My boss got a call from a fellow out your way looking to buy hay already. It must be a lot worst your way than it is here.
