What is the proper procedure for removing the bottom clean grain auger. I started in on it this morning. It looks to me like you have to remove the clean grain elevator. Am I missing something because it shouldn't be that hard? Thanks

sorry you do have to pull the elevator as per SM , sorry mine was damaged before I got it hope you can read what you need

Thanks for your help. I was hoping you and the other Case experts would see this. Looks like I have some work ahead. I like all old combines which is why I have four different kinds but in this instance score one for JD. They have a slot cut into the side so you can just screw the auger out. However all this can be blamed on one of the previous owners tightening up the clutch beyond specs. Do you know of a source of bushings for the grain pan and straw rack? The hangers keep working their way out. Thanks again for your help.

they are still available from CNH seems like 12 bucks or so each,, I suggest to replace all at once and have the shoe centered when you tighten the clamps down

Case Nutty 1660, would you happen to have, a diagram, in yiur Service Manual, for the Varibale Speed assembly? Mine I think, has blown apart, and I'd like to know, what I need to do, to fix it. The combine I'm working on, is a 660 Case. Tha KS in advance. Bruce.

I left a post in the combine forum telling you how to remove the variable housing. The clutch and pressure plate are on the inside end of the variable shaft and come out as a unit. Pretty straight forward if you pull the bolts and remove the variable housing.

Did that, pulled the variable speed assembly, and found the problem. The center of the clutch disc, was busted oùt, going to order new clutch discs, in the morning. I take it, the rest of the assembly, can be taken apart, once the belt pulley, is removed, from the assembly.
