Think I will kick myself later....

Just came from the big consignment auction.

Had a Gleaner M2, 20 foot, 6 row, and pickup heads.

Bunch of filters and parts in the cab. Had a hopper extension on it.

Brought $6100 for all.

Wife would have a fit but man, looked good for that money. I have an M3 with the same heads, would have been nice to have a bean machine and a corn machine, extra parts. For that money.

You figure you are buying junk at a consignment sale, but it looked well cared for, overheard a mechanic fella owned it and bought a red one, had taken care of this one.

Sigh.

Sh_t happens. There's been a lot of sales I left with that feeling. I bet somebody got a good deal and is feeling good tonight.

I've gone to enough consignment auctions to see the old gleaner machines that sat in a corn of the shed under mouse pee, wiring all chewed up, one tire creased from being flat, chains and sprockets all wore out, I didn't even bother mentioning this one to the wife. Shoulda softened her up a bit first, she's pretty good at going along with stuff if I bring it up first.

There was Aldo a 365bu gravity wagon, faded red but good shape, only brought $3300. I failed to look at it very closely ahead of time, as I saw a nice seed auger on it, very nice unit, that typically brings $6000 around here. After it stalled out around $3000, I wished I had checked it out closer, I figured as low it was something I hadn't looked at was wrong with it. After it sold, it looked pretty good to me.i was worried maybe it was used for fertilizer and rusting out inside, but all in all was pretty fair.

Cheap harvest there, maybe $10,000 would get you a full combine and good wagon.

Low grain prices are having an effect, everything was on the lower side.

The heads are worth more than that, if it has AHHC. Why are the good deals always so far away? :( Ben

paul- just checked the auction listings......check Ziemer Auction Svc...July 30 at Deer River....M2 gas, with a bunch of heads. Subscribe to Midwest Auctions? Updates sent on upcoming auctions in MN, Dakota. If it"s cheap enough- you can always get it home! Learned that the hard, regretful way.

At an auction, just because something sells at a low price, doesn't mean the buyer wouldn't have paid a lot more than they did. It takes 2 interested parties to escalate the price. That's what I tell myself anyways....Ron

BUT, you couldn't have bought it for $6100. You'd bid 62, they'd bid 63, you'd bid 64...... Suddenly you're at $9400 and not sure how you got there.

Not that that has ever happened to me...

Does sound like the other guy should be happy though.

I had an LII hydro big engine, short shoe with 3200hrs. Had a 24ft platform with milo guards.Drive tires like new.Air even worked. I sold it in 2014. I had it listed in several magazines. No responses. I put a "FOR SALE" in the window and sold it to a local guy for $5,100. The only other offer I could get was $4000.I had several new belts and parts that went with it.

The guy used it in the fall of 14 to cut his milo then parked it in his pasture. He didn't have milo in 2015 and none this year either. He has one JD 6620's for corn and another 6620 for beans.
