K Gleaner in oats part 3

Thanks to everyone that has helped me so far. With the help you guys provided I finally got my $600 K to combine oats satisfactorily. Got her set up and started about 10:30 this morning. Made a couple rounds around the field then made some passes through the middle. I was tickled pink with its performance and thinking about telling you guys how well everything went. Then reality hit.... at about 2/3 of a bin full I heard a slip clutch kick in. It was on the right rear and I think went to the elevator that puts grain in the bin. I opened the bottom of the elevator and got 3 buckets of oats out of it. I then pulled the panel at the elevator top and found the chain thrown to the auger that carries grain into the bin from the elevator. I thought that would be why the elevator slipped the clutch. Started back up and threw the eccentric drive chain[located on the left side]. Put it back on and now none of the chains on the seperator run. Went back to right side and tightened what I thought was a slip clutch on the pulley that the countershaft drive belt and fan belt go on. No results. I can turn this shaft with a wrencn on the nut on that pulley and the chains and seperator move. Is there a slip clutch on this pulley? Does anyone have an exploded diagram of it because I cant find one in the operators manual. Thanks for any help/suggestions. Lee

The clean grain elevator and cross auger are controlled by the slip clutch in the rear on the right side. Make sure you have the clean grain elevator chain tightened up. Mine was loose and kept catching, which cause the slip clutch to slip. Not sure about the eccentric drive chain on the left side though. just make sure you have the chains snugged up with the tensioners. and also that the sprockets line up. Possible one may have moved horizontally?

Thanks Rustyacres. I think you are correct about a tenisoner moving horizontally. I got it back in place. I think the problem is a broken key or pulley on that shaft. I have another K so I borrowed the shaft and pulley from it. I got a lot of help from the folks at Oakely Combine in Oxford N.C. Great folks ,I would love to meet them.I ordered an 8and1/2 inch pulley and belt from them last monday and recieved it last wednesday. A tool I ordered from another source the day before is not here yet. Thanks again,Lee

My Case 600 did the exact same thing last fall except the slip clutch did not work. Chain came off the top of the elevator that drives the auger. Elevator then got jammed so full of wheat the elevator chain broke and got puked out onto the ground. The bottom elevator auger then got bent and tore the bottom of the elevator to the point I will have to do some fancy welding. I'm in the process of removing the bottom auger. If I can't get it straighten up good enough I have an bottom clean grain auger off a JD 95 I might try to modify into the combine.

If its like my F machines, when the chain throws it locks up the shaft so fast when it wraps on the sprocket it is still on, it busts the cast pulley on the right side of the machine. Look in behind, and the set screw will be cracked out of the pulley, allwong the shaft to spin in the cast pulley hub.

I've done 3 over the years.....

I meant left side of the machine. On the F its the shaft that drives the shaker.

Thats exactly what happened ! The pulley was on the right side. You couldnt see the break until you pulled the shaft. I have another K sitting here rigged up for corn so I just pulled pulley ,shaft and all to put in the one I am using. All I like[I hope]is putting the new bearing on the left side and reinstalling belts and chains. If the rain and breakdowns stay away maybe I can get a little done today. Thanks for the input. Lee
