What precautions need to be taken when adding anti-freeze in an old engine where water was used each year and drained for the cold months? I am thinking hoses, water pump ect.

Should be no problem....put in a mixture of 50% antifreeze and 50% water.

An internal leak would be my concern. Just keep track of the fluid levels, to be sure the coolant isn't going into the base. (Sometimes it will go where straight water won't.)
