Pricing my JD55

Due to health reasons I had to quit farming. I am trying to come up with a fair price for my 55 but don't know where to look to get an idea for the corn head and bean head with floating cutter bar. Any suggestions?

Well this is a tough question with out pictures or not looking at it in person . But if it was shed kept and you feel that with just the normal before field maintenance that you would o before going to the field and plus the fact that they have now come onto the collector list as my one customer sold his to a collector for 3250 and they paid the trucking from eastern Ohio to mid state Ill. And his went with the two row corn head and a 13 foot header . It was a go to the field Combine , he just upgraded to a 1620 . His combine was bought new on the farm . SOOOoooooo i hope this helps ya .

What year and what options? A late one with a 303 diesel and hyd. drive is worth more than a roundback gas. Do you have the quik-tach feeder house or the older style? A good later 55 with a gas engine recently sold for $1500 here in SW WI. I bought my 105 gas that is very nice in MN two years ago at a collecters sale and paid $1100 for it with a pickup head. There were some nice 55's with gas engines that sold for about $1400-1800 with grain platforms. A quik tach feederhouse will sell for $500-$1000.Post back with what heads and options and maybe some pics and we can give you a better idea. Tom

Unfortunately I don't know how to post pics with my phone. It's a 1967 square back with a 303. Shed kept. Used it last year in dry beans. I have a rigid platform and one with a floating cutter bar. Those are quick tach with the seperate feeder house. The corn head is a 313. There is also a parts machine with a good 303 and front tires.

With the 313 corn head and your other heads if the machine is good with strait metal and good concaves and cylinder bars start out $3500 and see what offers you get.In my area it would not sell at $2500 as there are no small farmers left. Your machine would be nice for a smaller farmer who wants to do his own.The 55 was a simple machine that worked well but in 200 bu corn that three row might be a little much for it.Good luck Tom

I've never paid more then $800 for any of my combines. But I wasn't buying a corn header with it either. Never hurts to start high like someone suggested. You can always come down.

That's what it was for me. A small guy that wanted to do his own. Better than waiting for someone else to have time. Thanks for the suggestions fellas.

I concur with Tom. You have a lot there with multiple heads, parts machine, Quick tach, etc. $3500 sounds like a good place to start. It may not sell right away, but it only takes one buyer. Keep in mind the machinery market is soft for all stuff right now- big, small, old, new. Don't get frustrated and give it to the scrap man yet!

That was probably the Brad K. sale? If so, I was there but didn't buy anything. It was a fanstastic sale.
