getting 2188 ready for wheat harvest

First time we are using a 2188 for our wheat harvest. Got the machine from the rice areas down south and found it is equipped with a specialty rotor with spiked rice bars through out the rotor. Using large wire concaves with cover plates installed in the first 3 positions and a set of disruptors in the grate area. Combine has a cutting straw chopper but the knives were not engaged. Our only experience with this machine was in soybeans last year. Based on the items I found and and installed, is there anything else I should consider settings wise or other wise to handle a heavy wheat crop with a few weeds. We usually try to bale wheat straw but we might try to incorporate one field back into the soil. With all the off and on rains, we think we will have short windows to get the crop in. Any help would be appreciated. Printed off a good source for initial settings. Anyone have experience with this set up? Operating with a 25 foot head.

We've never cut wheat with our 2188 but we have a specialty rotor too and have the little disrupters on the concave. And seeing how much it will grind the bean stems up...... It will probably make powder out of the straw. We can't really bale behind our 9700 and that 2188 grinds it up twice as much. I'm sure it will do a good job of threshing and separating tho.

From what we learned running this combine in soybeans last year, is that we needed the disruptors to break up the soybean stalks. We found we were basically losing crop out the back end. My son insists on baling the straw from the wheat crop but I think we will initially run a small field with the intent of spreading it and seeing how that works. If the straw does get beat up too much, we may have to change our plans on baling the rest. Found a set of small wire concaves in the meantime if I need them.

I assume ur in Wisconsin from ur name. Those wire concaves should help. And those disrupters do wonders with beans. If ur gona run corn with it u won't be able to run those spike tooth bars. Good idea to just try spreading it first u can get it dialed in then take the spredders off the back
