All-Crop SP100 Straw Walker Pitman Crank. Help!!

First time in the field with my new, beautiful SP100. After cutting a couple of rows I hear a !!bang!!, stop everything, and find that the cast crank on the front of the straw walker shaft (that attaches to the wooden pitman arm) is broken.

The part looks like Unobtanium. Before having my friendly machinist mill me a $500 replacement, any ideas where I might find an original part? Might it be weld-able?

I *think* the bolts holding the rear straw walker arm to the drive pulley slipped, allowing the chaffer shoe to drop down onto the grain drag raddle. Not good. My pristine All Crop now has some road rash inside the separator housing, but apart from the broken crank everything looks OK.

A shame, too, since the machine was working nicely in some pretty weedy wheat.

Thanks for any recommendations or suggestions.

Thanks for the suggestion, Richard. Yep, Tom (at Allcropharvester.com) got right back to me and is shaking the trees for a replacement crank. But I'm not too optimistic someone just has one sitting on their shelf.

I may have to go your route and machine a replacement, or try welding the casting. Nice repair on yours..

Austin Farm Salvage at Butler,MO (660-679-4080) may have one...They did have several parts 100 AC's......A
neighbor 3 miles east has the remains of one in a field that I have taken parts from..

Hi Jim-

Anything that get's me back to work ASAP is worth trying. I don't have your number, but will tell Tom you replied since it sounds like you know each other.

You can try me as well at (530) 683-5687 (68-FLOUR)

Thanks!

PS- the parts book lists the part as No.520823, CRANK- straw rack pitman, front.

My machine's S/N is SP5741, but I think (hope) the crank is common to earlier AC's.

I'm off to pull the stub end off the machine, will post pix when I'm able.

Thanks again.

Success!!

Thanks to Jim (with help from Tom Yaz), I found a NOS crank at a dealer in Wisconsin. UPS should get it to me tomorrow, then we're back in action.

I'm grateful for the helpfulness of the AC community. Great to see these machines still receive the appreciation they deserve. With support from other AC fans, I look forward to many more harvests with my SP100.
