At a recent farm auction.
I'm just curious the age and rarity?
Went for cheap. Probably for scrap.
Just wondering if I should have tried
to save it for someone? It's located in
south central North Dakota. Could
still be there if someone wants to
inquire the auctioneer as to who bought
it. If so, my email is open.

It would be from the 60s but it was made into the 1980s by White as the model 5542. I think the 431 was originally a Cockshutt design introduced by Cockshutt right before they got folded into the White mess. Just from my experience, combines in that shape aren't good for anything but parts.

If its in the Dakotas Ill be that thing was in better shape than the paint eludes to. 431's are not easy to come by in any condition. Its a shame that one is now a Prius.
