First time in the field with my new, beautiful SP100. After cutting a couple of rows I hear a !!bang!!, stop everything, and find that the cast crank on the front of the straw walker shaft (that attaches to the wooden pitman arm) is broken.
The part looks like Unobtanium. Before having my friendly machinist mill me a $500 replacement, any ideas where I might find an original part? Might it be weld-able?
I *think* the bolts holding the rear straw walker arm to the drive pulley slipped, allowing the chaffer shoe to drop down onto the grain drag raddle. Not good. My pristine All Crop now has some road rash inside the separator housing, but apart from the broken crank everything looks OK.
A shame, too, since the machine was working nicely in some pretty weedy wheat.
Thanks for any recommendations or suggestions.
