Deere 224 wobble box

Messed around and broke the wobble box belt
on my older 224 header and realized it was
because the box is pulling hard.

The belt wasnt that good, and I can still
turn the pulley by hand and it will move the
sycle, but it does feel hard and I think it
is low on grease. Bought it at an auction a
while back, so I dont know any of its
history and I just didnt think to check the
oil in it beforehand.

If I scuffed it up because of low oil, is it
likely i can just fill it with oil and
finish out a quarter of wheat? Or would it
be better to rebuild it now before I tear it
up??

Never been in one, so I dont know what to
expect in terms of parts or complexity.

Thanks for any advice,
Howard

I had Deere come out and put a wobble box on the 922 flex head. It ended up being one of those "oh look, that other piece has a crack in it, too" kind of days. It was several thousand when it was all said and done.

Look it over good and make sure nothing on that end is cracked or broken. Make sure it's full of oil. Run the rest of your harvest and hope it pays for the repairs.

Howard, You can buy a SCH pro drive for little if any more money than a JD wobble drive rebuild. Had mine done at their shop several years ago then priced SCH kit. Was not happy when I realized the small extra the kit would have cost.
Deer offers the SCH kit in other countries where they don't have to pay patent fees. HTH Tom
