Gleaner 238 Corn Heads

Is there any interest in orange frame Gleaner corn heads? I have a couple 238 orange frame corn heads that came with a K2 I recently purchased and have no need for them but I hesitate to scrap them just yet. They are in very good shape, but ya, not exactly cutting edge technology in high demand. I also don't want to hold on to them for the rest of the summer either... Scrap them or sell them? Even if I wanted to sell them, how do I reach out to those people that would actually be interested?

Quite a few parts will fit on multi row orange heads of the same vintage.....keep/sell them for parts. Ben

where are you located? yes they are good for parts as they are becoming harder to find everyday as many are worn out and just many have went to scrap over the years with high iron prices. many 2 rows were low acreage units so many parts , gearboxes , sprockets etc a are still usable.

That's nice to know that they are still good for parts. But who would want them these days? Quite frankly I'm not interested in taring them down just to hold on to these pieces in the back of the shed on the chance that someone else might possibly want them. I will sell these heads very shortly to someone else who could use them for parts OR to the scrap yard. Both 238's look to be in very good condition and basically ready for the field. They are for sale on craigslist right now for $250 ea or $350 for the pair. Someone on here wants them, I'd let them go for $300. I have no doubt that they would both provide a lot of nice useable parts for other orange heads. If you or anyone is interested, please let me know. They will be gone one way or the other in a few weeks if no interest. I'm in NW Iowa. My email is listed here.

I'm sure someone somewhere will want them. If I was close by, I would buy them and stack them in the corner of a barn. I used an orange 3 row for years, and no trouble. But I know where you're at. I cleaned up a whole row of rusty iron for a neighbor. We gave up and sent away a complete two row JD cultivator off a B. When I say complete, I mean all the attaching parts, everything was there. I advertised it, and didn't get a bite. I tell the story, and invariably get a "I could have used that". Too bad.

You"d be surprised how many good parts will fit into a 55 gal barrel! Doesn"t require much storage space in a shed. BTDT some years ago- gave them to a guy who used to be on these boards, sent the rest to my son for his E, after buying a few orange heads. I bought them for the roll cones, went thru too many of them, lost in the field, from just one row!
