Gleaner F separator beater

Last March I bought a Gleaner F for the grain head. I got to looking at the combine and noticed they had taken out the beater that's over the straw walkers. Besides it being worn out or broke, is there any functional reason to remove it?

I think it should be left in....kicks the material down to the walkers for more even flow thru the machine.

The only reason to remove it would be to prevent the beater from driving cobs down the back end of the raddle chain where they could cause a bind and stop the chain. . Having said that, that is not the correct way to prevent the raddle from binding.....use a cob shield instead. Ben
