John Deere 4400

So I'm still on the look for a combine to replace a well used White 7300.

A JD 4400 is for sale locally for a decent price. Were they a good combine? It says it has the 20 series updates, what does that mean/include?

Is it an upgrade from the white?

it comes with a 215 head but no cornhead. Was the 215 good for wheat and beans?

Wheat is coming on so I really need to find a combine soon.

I used to own a 4400 and they are a good combine, although not built at the quality level of the larger 6600/7700. What year is this combine? Other than a hydraulic swing unloading auger and a few minor things on the combine they are very close to the same machine when compared to a 4420. The 215 is a good head. Check to see if it is the flex model or the rigid one. Both will work on small grains but the flex is needed to do a good job on beans. Mike

They were a good combine and if you got along fine with a 7300 then a 4400 will be fine too. You should have a little more capacity with the 4400 too. But I think parts are harder to find for them then the bigger models.
