Crows and Corn

Just wondering what you guys in the large corn growing areas do to keep the crows out of your corn? They bothered mine pretty bad this year so I tried some Avipel and it worked well. What makes me mad is when the corn makes an ear they go down the outside row, scratch the shucks back and eat a few kernels and go to the next one. Anyone know how to stop this?? I've tried a shotgun but soon as I get near the field the crows fly to the tallest tree and stay there.

Crows in my area are usually not the problem, it is black birds (starlings) that will pull up late planted corn and eat the seed off.
