Will a gleaner F2 run a 6 row head if you don't get carried away on your speed? Also which ones will fit the F2? Any suggestions are appreciated

An F2 will drive a 6 row, but your ground speed will be half to 2/3rd of that with a
four row in the same field, and you will not travel near as far before the bin is
full, which can be both good or bad. Most black frame heads will fit an F2 with the
proper drive adapters, but good luck finding one for a 6 row. You will also need to
ballast the rear of the combine and may even need larger lift cylinders. A four row
on an F2 is just a much better combination. Ben

My later, long tail, diesel F2 carried a 4 row narrow black head without rear ballast. But I would never even consider hanging a six row on there.

They made a 6-30 head but they are rare. Not many sold.

In addition to driving slow, the hopper would fill up mighty fast as well.

Without looking in the book- I"d say about 11,000...books usually show weight with a grain head. 4 row corn head is around 2500 lbs. 6rn about 3200,

In the 1970's there was an F Gleaner about 6 miles north of me that ran a 6 row corn head..He didnt go very
fast..

If you go slow I think the machine will take it, but the problem I would worry about is what do you do if it isnt good and dry while harvesting? I always would try to speed up a bit coming into a wet spot. You wouldnt be able to speed up without sending grain out the back or flooding the sieves. If you get into mud with a gleaner and stop, then try to back out the head will drag and the rear wheels go up. Extra weight of six rows will only make this worse. Flat ground maybe, but on slops or hills you might be biting off more than you can chew. I ran a six narrow on my old Gleaner G for many years. It could eat six rows but not fast, and the higher the yield the slower you go. I also have run An M2 with six narrow. Some days six almost felt to big. Depends on the type of ground and yield. The new high bred corn may make it difficult.

me neither ,, but it depends on your hills that you are on ,,. my f raised the 4 row head ,with a full tank on a downhill slope ,,went to reverse and the gleaner f started to raise its tail and back rite out from under the load ,tipping on its nose,,.it can put a scare in you ,,.but yes it will run a 6 row on level ground fine ..
