Im sure most of you have heard but in case you haven't, Mr Gleaner-Kevin Bien passed away yesterday.

Kevin will be greatly missed within the AGCO-Gleaner sales and marketing group. He was passionate about the product and his infectious personality and near-constant laugh made him a lot of fun to be around. His very sudden and rapid health decline and passing is sure a shock.

Funny story - Last summer a farmer in our church approached me asking if I knew Kevin Bien. Yes, I replied, I did know Kevin. The farmer, who has a real sense of humor as well, went on to say that someone needed to tell Kevin to tone it down and that he was being too persuasive. He had heard Kevin on the radio during wheat harvest and said that "I felt that I needed to stop right then and there and go trade my combine for a Gleaner". I kidded the farmer that I would give Kevin his phone number so he could get a personal sales call. "No!, No!, don't do that" was his reply. We would always joke with each other about this at church but I had never followed through with the threat. However, when I saw Kevin in Louisville in February I mentioned it to him and he thought that would be great fun to give this farmer a call. With the farmer's wife's approval (she thought it would be hilarious) I passed along his cell phone number to Kevin. Unfortunately, not long after this Kevin's health began to go downhill and a call was never made.

Kevin Bien was a very good friend of mine. Two words describe Kevin: Passion and Integrety. Kevin lead a handful of men who saved the Gleaner line from demise at AGCO. Kevin never forgot a name after he met you.

I ask you this: Do you know of any other machinery marketing manager that answered his own telephone? Also anyone who would give out their telephone number? When I would call Kevin at the office he would always answer "This is Kevin Bien" or if he were out for several days he left a voice message telling you the date and when he would return to the office but if you have an emergency call this number for quick assistance.

A top notch guy that I will miss but cherish our friendship and the memories.
