fixing up straw chopper

Hi guys again,
This weekend I picked up a couple straw choppers for a really good price for my JD 4400 I have a newer one that is flared in the
back and is better built and have an older one that has 3 shafts for the knives. My first question is how many sickle sections
are supposed to be in them. The older one has less holes, but all 12 sections are in it. The newer one is missing most of the
sections and the tin where the slots are is cut up by a torch for some reason. Why are there more slots for the sections in the
newer one? Are there more slots to be able to reverse the section? I was also wondering if I can take the tin from the older
chopper and put it on the newer chopper even though there are less section holes. I would also use the sickle section mounting
bracket on from the old one to put on the new one. Will this work with out the flails hitting something? Clear as mud? Maybe
someone has a picture of up underneath of the newer style chopper that is in good shape. Thanks in advance for any advice.
