Case 650 Windrower

I just recently picked up a Case 650 and I've got a few repairs to do on it and I'm having a really difficult time finding parts. Has anyone had any experience restoring one of these or seen parts out there? Mainly interested in brake shoes and I need to figure out some new seat cushions for it plus a few other things.

Hesston built it for Case, brakes should be able to be relined, Speer Cushion might be able to help you on seat cushions. I had a 950, I bought a 1090 NH and sold the Case because parts like the round belts were no longer available.

Sorry here's the pic.

I'll have to give them a call and ask them because I didn't see anything online that looked like them. Best description I can give of them is basically a large v-belt cut into about 3-4" sections bolted on to two backer plates that when the brake pedal is engaged, push against the drive pulleys to slow them down. When I received the machine, the backer plates were there but no shoes. From the picture in the parts manual, a chunk of a large v-belt is what they look like which is what I might end up using if I can't find something better. Took the thing for a test drive around our shop and didn't realize it had no brakes. That was fun. Thing is a little squirrely to drive. It'll take some practice before I'm out cutting anything.

They might be, I was checking through Hesston. The head drive shaft used to wrap up in oats and shower grain and straw all over my head. The 950 got my grain cut but the hydro is a lot nicer to drive and easier to maintain.. Dad bought a 775 Massey new and it literally cut around the world and back. The 1090 NH is basically the same machine. Also the Hesston canvases were wider than other machines so ones out of another brand wouldn't work.

the brake you are talking about is for parking Only Not stopping,, for braking you ease the levers in REV a bit,, I have at least seven CASE swathers here not once in almost 50 years have I ever used the brake on one,, do not jerk on the levers though just use a fluid motion
cnt

Use to run a 950 over a lot of acres of alfalfa and small grains. Guess I never used the brakes on it. Snap both levers forward and the
right one was the trim steer to make corrections going down the field. Pulling the levers back gave the operator braking action before
going into reverse mode. Could be set to have the head flex side to side which did a good job on hay ground. Took the Wisconsin engine off
and put on a VAC water cooled combine engine on it.
