There is a 615 IH combine posted in a local online auction. They say it has a 263 chevy engine. Did these combines have chevrolet or IH engines. I dont really need it but if someone like me doesnt bid on it, it may go to the scrappers. It has a 3 row corn head and a grain head.It is 35 miles from me so I may go look at it. I hope someone will educate me about the 615.I own 2 K Gleaners but know very little about IH combines. Thanks for any help. Lee

Engine choices were C263 IH gas or D282 IH diesel.

(BTW, WHAT is a "Chevy 263 engine?)

It is in Cookeville ,Tn. As far as a 263 Chevy its the first time I had ever heard of one. I assumed it was either 250 chevy or 263 IH. I didnt know what was normally used in one. I guess its similar to the engine in my 560 gas. If one of you guys has a use for it let me know and I wont bid. I just dont like to see them scrapped. Even if its too far gone to make useable again I would like to see some of the parts used. I dont even have shed space for it right now.

Yep, definitely a 263 IH engine. Ran a 615 with a 2 row corn head years ago. Nice machine. Ran the exhaust back onto the carb to keep it from icing up when it was extremely cold.

It's 4 miles west of Shangri-la, find it your self. I get peeved when someone finds something and someone else wants to know where it is. My parents taught me not to be that way (ie a weasel.)I guess differences in a persons upbringing.
