Massey 26

Massey Harris started to build the 726 combines at their new combine factory at Kilmarnok, Scotland
here in the UK in 1949. The engines used were 4cyl Morris engines as fitted to the first Nuffield tractors vith a vaporiser fitted to run on kerosene etc. The first ones were fitted with a bagging platform and the grain tank came later.
All MH tractors and machinery built in the UK were prefixed with a number 7 and all machines built in France used the number 8.
MJ in the UK.

This is the early model 26 with the gas tank under the drivers seat. I've never seen one, but have seen many "Super 26" like the one I got. Must not have made many of them before they realized sitting on a tank of gas wasn't real smart.

For many years Case and Cockshutt made combines with gas tanks you sit one. Guess it made it easier to check.
