Looking at a gleaner k2 that is about 100 miles away. If I buy I would drive it home. How fast is road speed? THANKS all.

If I remember right, it is around 13 MPH. I drove a K about 70 miles on opening weekend of Pheasant season. ------ off a lot of road hunters.
You can adjust the Variable speed sheave to give you an extra mile or two per hour more.

I drove an F2 home about that distance with a 13 foot header on. Not a bad job if you can avoid towns and busy roads, but do pack a lunch. Tight fit in the drive through! Ben

I drove an 8700 White last summer 125 miles. The perkins used about 30 gal of fuel. Left the guys yard at 9:00 and got home around 6:30. Probably stopped for 45 minutes or so. Was a long day but a few gal of fuel was a lot cheaper than hiring it hauled. Robert M

Ozarker says about 15 with 16.9 tires. Mine had 18.4 tires, and I think it was faster than that, just can't remember.
Does it have a header on it?

It will depend on the wear on the belt and sheaves, as well as the tire sizes. A little wear on the belt can mean several mph at maxed out speed.

When I drove the F3 home 95 miles I was expecting 15mph. But it had a hydro drive and big tires, and it averaged 19mph. Down hills was kinda exciting.... That critter can move!

The F3 with standard tranny was a little slower driving home 40 miles.

Sounds like the K2 is a little quicker than a K, I get about 13 with my K, book says 14. Check those belts, might not hurt to take a spare. if you break a traction belt you'll be having it hauled for sure. I thought my 10 mile drive was a long way )
