6601 Pull Combine question

I have a 6601 pull type combine and I am wondering how wide the tread setting can be on the tractor pulling it? Can I run duals, or would the right hand tractor tire run over the windrow? I will be using a 213/ 13 foot direct cut platform.

Just hook your tractor to the combine and look at it! That will answer your question. Since you mentioned "windrow", that gives you the option of where you locate the windrow pickup. Mount the pickup farther to the right and "problem" solved. Not familiar with that machine, but does it have a side-to-side adjustment on the hitch?

Windrow was a bad choice of words, I am using a direct cut head. I cannot get the combine out of the shed right now due to snow, otherwise it would be simple enough to "just look at it and measure." And yes, the tongue does swing, but I do not know if it will swing enough to clear my duals.

We use one, I would take both duals off tractor for better turning, opening the field and getting close enough to grain truck. Around here people that use one Swath the grain for better dry down. Check youtube on 6601 a few good videos on them.

Having had some experience with a 96, I will say you will definitely need the duals off.

Also, the 6601 utilized a special offset head, and so if your 213 is a standard 213 with the feederhouse in the middle odds are it won't work.

Riight dual off for sure, left one if dumping on the go. The 96 and 6601 do not have offset headers, mount pickup as far to the left as possible, so the windrow feeds straight in. The 106 had an offset header.

You sure???

In the picture, I don't think the hitch is swung way over. I grew up running a 96 (there hitch was solid) and one wet fall we ran duals 18.4-34 on a G1000 and got by fine. We had to back up to the truck to unload and we were running a pickup head with grain that was windrowed. Straight cut, you may be only able to run the left dual, I don't remember how far out that hitch on the 6601 swings.

Cool pic! I love these pull types. I was wondering why you would need duals on the tractor to pull it i guess, looks to me like they would just be in the way, and not necessary.

Dig around in the tool box on the combine for an operator's manual. There might be a manual for the header in there too.
