Small Grains Chaffer for 55 Combine

I am in search of a small grains chaffer for a 55. I currently have the wide spaced/tall fingered chaffer for corn but would like to have the narrow spaced short fingered unit for clover/wheat. I really had plans for clover in the spring and I can tell by looking that the tall fingered, wide spaced chaffer is not going to work well at all for clover. Even when totally closed im sure it will overload my tailings system.

Does anyone have an extra one in good shape that they'd like to sell or know of a salvage yard that offers parts for older Deere combines? I have tried Bowie Equipment. He only had corn chaffers in all his parts machines. I assume I need to be looking westward toward wheat country but I don't really know of any salvage yards in that region.

My machine is a squareback with SN in the 89000 range but it looks like anything above SN 57000 should work.

If anyone has any leads I'd sure appreciate the help.

Hi William, Hows the weather down there? You might try Wilson's up here by me. They used to have a bunch of older combines. Don't know what they have now. Spallingers in northwest Ohio might have some also. Good luck, William

American Implement in Mt Calvary WI. had a few 55's the last I was there. Many Wi combines of that vintage had the standard chaffer and not the corn one, as there was still a lot of oats etc grown back in that day.

Try Vande Weerd Combine, Inc.
Rock Valley, Iowa

There is a Meyers salvage at Aberdeen, SD but don't know if they handle combines

Thanks fellas.... I've tried them all. I'm empty handed so far. I'm still waiting on a call back from Wilson's. I'm sure hoping he comes up with something. These machines have gotten too old for salvage yards..

Haven't been past Spallinger's in long time, no idea what they have. They were good to deal with.

a year or two back there was three of them at a sale here,, I posted here and asked if anyone needed anything or wanted them as I knew they would go cheap,, no one answered me so I let them go, all went to the crusher and sold for 25.00 each wish now I would have bought them sorry
