John Deere 9400 Rasp Bars

My 9400 needs a set of rasp bars. Looking in various parts catalogs there are bars with one row of fastening bolts and bars with two rows of fastening bolts. My machine currently has the two row bars in it. Question is I've found in internet searches that they are interchangeable and to go with the one row bars because they are easier to install. According to the Deere parts book the single bolt row bars are used with the high inertia cylinder. I do not have that cylinder and there are no notes that they can be used in place of the two row bars. So does anyone know the answer to this before I go bother the dealerships combine guru?

I always used the two row bars. I just think the cylinder is more rugged/stable that way. The bars are not that much different to change.

I checked with Deere, seems they only offer the single bolt row bars now. Two row bars are only available aftermarket. I was thinking the extra bolts would strengthen the cylinder up to.

I just checked on jdparts.com and only see the original two-row bars listed. The hardware kit to order also has bolts for both rows. No parts substitutions are listed. Not sure where your parts man came up with his information. I wouldn't want to trust just one row of bolts on these bars. Mike

If I remember correctly the JD #'s all sub up to the newer style with just the one bolt. They are metric by the way. I think you can still get the two bolt aftermarket tho. I could be wrong tho....it's been a while since I did any of this. If you check with your combine guru, he will likely tell you they work fine.

Cowboy is right, if you put the pn for the two row bars in the Deere parts lookup it subs them to the one row bars. The combine guy at my local dealership was positive that Deere no longer offers two row bars. Also found the info in the link below from Deere that states one row bars are now standard from Deere. Guess I answered my own questions.

I put chrome bars in my 9400 a couple of years ago. Good or bad I spent the money and got them from deere, they only had 1 row of bolts. They replaced an aftermarket set that had 2 rows.
