I would like a straw chopper or maybe even a spreader. My machine is low hours and always shedded. It was a gas but last summer we put a 404 diesel out of an early 7700 in it.Tom

I wish my 95 looked as good as yours, These JD combines are some of the best JD ever built bar none, Simple easy to operate and work on when needed. If you want to make your 95 really go add 200 rpm to the engine, You will not believe the difference it makes in the combine. It's the same way with the 55's with the 303 gas engine, Just bump it up like the 95 regular rpm and you will think you have a whole different combine. You do have some sweet combines there. Bandit

The 95 is still a gas but there is a 329 diesel that was overhauled last fall in the shop that should be installed before this fall. Tom

Tom, It's great to see the 105 in action. The 404 diesel should be a great improvement, one year I combine 100 acres of oats with this machine; it seemed like it took about 7 gallons per hour. No wonder there was an extra tank on it; I did like the sound of that big six gas engine though. Good pics, Brad

Seeing these photos reminds me of when I was finishing up high school (mid 1980's)and saw a 105 for sale. It has a 4 row wide corn head, a 6 row narrow corn head, a 20 foot soybean header, and a windrow pickup header. As I recall, it only had around 1300 hours on the combine and was in good shape. The purchase price was not beyond my means at that time. I had the "grand vision" to purchase this combine and do custom harvesting with that machine. I never pursued it as I was headed off to college that fall and my parents would have "killed me" spending some of my college money on a piece of farm machinery which would take me away from my studies in the fall. I do like the sound of a JD diesel engine, particularly those of the 20, 30, and 40 series tractors. The gas engine in that 105, I believe, would have been identical to the one in our 4020 gas tractor. To say that tractor had an appetite for fuel is an understatement, but it was not any worse than our 806 Farmall gas tractor and would pull about the same load in the field. I do like that sound uttered by that 4020 when under a load in road gear, hauling 500 to 700 bushels behind that tractor!

Yes it did like the gas. The 404 came out of an early 7700 so it was a bolt in with no changes other than we had to turn down the flywheel because the diesel uses a smaller ring gear to turn it over faster. It runs great and we have had no trouble at all with it. Tom
