case combine question for the experts

i have a 354 perkins lined up to go on my 1660 but is this a good motor to put on?? i would rather put a case diesel on like 1030 1070 case engine.
next what to do with the gas v8 i was wondering if i could put it on my 960? good bad ugly
or should just leave them alone?
i just like diesels better i guess
if it aint broke dont fix it.

Well Massey used a boatload of them in their combines so I don't see how it would hurt the Case any.

The factory diesel offered for the 1660 was a 354 non-turbo perkins. I have some pictures of a 1665 with a factory perkins in it if you
would like to seem them. I also the parts manual that came from Case for the 354 Perkins in the 1660 if something in there might be of help
to you. I think I would go with the Perkins instead of the Case 451, I think the 451 might be more trouble fitting it into and if you get
the perkins out of another combine you would already have a bell housing setup.

I think the 354 would weigh less than a 401 or 451 Case. There is a gentleman up by Dalton, MN that has a 1660 factory equipped with the Perkins 354.

case must of used a different bell housing then massey.

a Perkins in a Massey uses an SAE bell housing, a 354 runs just fine in a Massey combine

i have heard the perkins just sip the fuel so hopfully it works out
