Not the way a season should end

This happened to my neighbor yesterday with only a couple of acres of cotton left to pick for the season. This one was the last of a dying breed around us a Case-I.H. 2055. Case I.H. DOMINATED cotton country around us for years but due to lack of dealer support and the newer J.D. pickers being easier to service they have been slowly disappearing. This guy has always been a red picker guy and he probably have trouble finding a red one close to us of the same vintage to replace this one with. They just spent about $3000 before the season replacing the crank and in framing the engine.

Cotton fuzz is very combustible. Watched a crew with several pickers in the same field. When the picker made one round and stopped to dump, there was a guy there with a broom to sweep off accumulated fuzz before it could catch fire. It looked to me that it would have a lower flash point than grain dust.

Hay aint herd for you in awhile, Glad to see your still doing good. A fellow up here had his IH burn this fall in the field and it's never a good thing to have happen. I of these days I have got to head down that way cause I have never seen a cotton picker or see one work. Bandit
