I have an opportunity to purchase what seems like a solid No. 25 combine. Would anyone care to share their opinion of these?

Thanks in advance,

Tim

Never been around one but was interesting to see some of the options and descriptions from the parts book. Seems it was available in PTO or engine drive, 6' or 7' cut, 4 or 6 bat reel, grain tank or sacking attachment, scourkleen attachment, special cylinder and concaves for peanut/edible bean harvesting, hydraulic or lever header lift, different sieve/chaffer options, and probably other options I missed. Anyone know of a video of one in operation?

I think that they were the last model with the canvas draper. I grew up with a 12-A and we have a 30 sitting in a shed. 30 has auger feed and raddle chain, I think it is called. I always thought the 25 was an upsized 12-A

Dad ran a 25 back in the late 60s , with a 430case diesel ,,. twisted off the power shaft on the combine when a wad of beans went thru ,, they were good machines , and tuf, I used to ridethe gearbox and watch the grain fill the bin , it did not seem dangerous at all then ,.. we developed problems with the canvas slipping ,, so we put another canvas on it ,,. I remember it cost 60bux in those days ,, it was together with 3/16 bolts,.seemed like we had quite a few bearings to change betwwen the 30 and th 25we had, ,,. the 30 was believed to be a improved machine with auger feed ,,. but was identical to the 25 imho .. I recall dad tinkering with the variable speed crank in front of the grain tamk ,, and it seemed that the cocave was adjusted with awrench
