Deere Belt Pickup Head Salvage Yard?

I have called the two big salvage yards in the area that I thought would be most likely to have parts for my 212P header. I've tried Worthington and All States with no success. They both tell me that the 212 is too old for them to keep as salvage.

Anyone have any leads on a salvage yard that keeps any older belt pickup heads? I'm looking for a driveshaft and also the hydraulic motor to drive the pickup. I was told that the 200 series platforms used the same orbital motor but the parts catalog says no. The cast mounting plate on the motor is pretty different...

I really never dreamed that a 212 was all that unusual or outdated.

As always, thanks for the help.

I realize it's a long distance for you but these two salvage yards up here would likely be able to help you out:

They are both large salvage yards here in Saskatchewan, Canada. There was a ton of those pickup heads in this country and I'm sure they would ship to your location. As well, the Canadian dollar is only worth about 75 cents US so your dollar will go a long way.

Thanks for the help. Actually neither yard had the driveshaft. Both parts people told me that the driveshaft is always the first thing to go when the headers come in for salvage.. I guess I'll keep looking.

Jim didn't the salvage in Watrous have that combine that was in the movie Tornado? I drove by there once and was told to look for it sitting in front. I saw it and it was banged up from head to toe. I'm thinking I was on HWY 2 at the time but maybe I'm wrong.

Yes you're right, they have what's left of the Twister combine sitting out front (or did last time I was up there). Most of the tin is missing - I think their website makes reference to the combine as well. Your memory is good as well, it's on Hwy 2 just as you enter Watrous coming up from the south.

wilamayb: Another large wrecker you might try is Gratton Coulee in Alberta:

Twister! Thanks for setting me straight. I was going north and the yard was on the left. I didn't have much time to gawk because I was hauling a combine at the time. I had a fairly new but high houred and well worn 2388 on the trailer and the thought entered my mind maybe I should drop the combine off here and go back home. LOL My destination was a little north of Humboldt.
