Me and my old gleaner have about had enough of each other so im looking at a 1979, IH 1460, with a 16.5'cut 820 bean head. the machine has 5100 hrs, and receipts for about 6k worth of repairs at a CIH dealer. I know this is a old girl, but its what I can afford. Im going to look at it tomorrow, and was wondering if there are any areas in particular that I should pay attention too. This will be the first rotary that i have looked at. Thanks for the help.

Just check your normal wear items- augers, metal under augers, chains, feeder house chain.

Pull the side cover on the rotor and look for dents and how wore the rasp bars are. See if all the vanes are in place on the top side of the rotor.

Crawl underneath and look at the cone between the feeder house and holes anywhere else.

Take a pry bar and check bushings on the sieves for wobble.

Use your eyes well.

Is this the one that Powder Mill farm equipment has for sale?Neighbor look at it last summer he said if it had a mudhog on it he would have got it.Said it was a good machine.

Make sure the unloading auger swings in and out easy. Also, check that the unloading auger runs smooth. I just had to put a new gearbox in mine. Ouch!!
