3300 JD and weed seed

I farm organic and as wet as it was this year I could not get in to cultivate the beans. I have a real mess going on. My little 3300 is going through all this in good shape, but for the life of me I can not keep ragweed seed out of the bin. I have the fan wide open but it don't blow as hard as I think it should. It has been years since I have combined beans with this machine, I have been using it for red clover seed the last couple of years, so I did not need much fan. Could their be something wrong with the fan or is this just normal for a real messed up year?

That sound normal for ragweed seed to get in the hopper, i dont think it can be helped. At least your getting that much foul seed of the field!

I had the same problem here when running my beans. Gleaner AII fans wide open but still ended up with a lot of weed seed.

I had some ugly water hemp issue, didnt even take any pictures of it was a real bad mess for 15 acres.

The M3 really ground and moaned taking 20 feet of that mess but it did grind through it. Typically we get a killing frost and its not a big deal here; this year, no killing frost, go figure. Green stem weeds. It was a mess.

I still have 500 bu in the wagons, need to run it through a grain screener I borrowed from a friend, get some of those weed seeds sorted out. Its bad.

With green weeds, they are damp and will cling to the beans, just can't get them sorted out when its that heavy.

Have you got any place on that machine (cleaning shoe, cross auger, elevator bottom, etc.) where you can remove a false bottom and uncover a screen? My Gleaner had them, and this CaseIH 1660 has them. I don't think you can blow weed seeds out. I think they need to be screened out.

Deere still has perforated doors and the tubes that connect the elevator to the combine frame available for the 3300. They are spendy but they would get a large amount of the seed out. I had a set of the tube connectors I ran on my 6620 and they did a good job screening out weed seed and other fines. Might find a set in a salvage yard machine? Elevator doors, AH11794. Clean grain tube H78851. Tailings tube, H78296.

Close your bottom sieve all the way..this will allow for a lot of return. Your prob driving slow so no chance of plugging it with to much return

I saw a scout clean on a small combine like that once . Maybe you can find one somewhere?I'm thinking of trying a lp gas flaming unit next year.
