L2 help needed!

I took my L2 out today for a shake down run, and everything worked good except for the auto header height control. I read up on it in my operators manual, set it up, but had problems. At first it worked like a charm, until i went to raise the head up to turn around. It would only raise a couple inches and then pump up and down. I tried putting the switch back in manual, but no luck same thing. I jumped out, unplugged the connection and it worked fine in manual mode. Later I plugged it back up and tried again, with even worse results! When I put the switch in auto, the head pumped up down rapidly. Ive been rereading my manual, and think that the constant pumping up and down maybe due to miss adjustment, but Im stumped on the not coming up in automatic. If im understanding the manual correctly, when i hit the manual up switch, that should drop out automatic mode, until I hit the manual lower switch. Looking at the schematic, Im wondering if i might have a bad diode between the switch and relay? Any light you guys could shed on this would be greatly appreciated! I can run with out it, but sure reduces the stress level!

Our F3 started acting up and we couldn't find anything wrong with it,I explained all we checked with no success to a man I know that use to work on combines for an AC dealer,he told me to blow the dust off and clean dirt film off the back of the header height module with an aerosol electrical contact cleaner and see if that solved our problem if it did spray it with a light coating of silicone lube, if not the module was probably bad ,cleaned it up and it has worked ever since, also you are correct on how the header switch controls the header height
