Man I work with 7720 bit the dust over the weekend he just has a few acre left to do.Here is the question there is a nice 9400 coming up in a estate sale in a few weeks.the sale ad says that is a 90. 2 questions was there a issue with the harmonic balancer and crankshaft I had heard the first one there was.The second is this combine sat it a shed for 5 years might have been started for the first 2 how many problems would he expect to have from it.

The 1990 model would have the smaller 359 engine in it. It was under powered and it had the issue with the crankshaft breaking. There was a updated crankshaft for them that fixes the problem. If the machine your looking at has not been updated its just a matter of time before the crank breaks. 1991 and up have the 414 engine that has no crankshaft issues and has more power. As for sitting for 5 years that shouldn't be a problem unless rodents have gotten into the wiring. Might need a new set of batteries and would be a good idea to change oils and filters. Otherwise grease it up and put it to work. I have a 1992 9400 and really like it. A huge step up from the 6620 I had before.
