Just a reminder to think saftey first

I ALWAYS put the saftey stand in place on the header anytime I go under it even for the smallest thing. Yesterday I got a reminder why I do it. I moved my Dominator combine back home from the last corn field and hauled the corn head on the trailer. When we got to my shop my father pulled up on the combine and picked the head up off the trailer.I pulled the truck and trailer out of the way and in a split second a hose going to one feederhouse cyl busted and the head hit the dirt in a split second. Even if I had been only partially under it there would have been NO way to move fast enough to get out of the way.It came down lightning fast. Luckily nothing was hurt and I will keep it in the back of my mind as a reminder. Please be safe.

Friend had that happen with a Gleaner. Luckily he was not under it. Lost another friend several years when he got off his loader with a bucket of lime in the air and walked under it. Someone found him alive but he died in a helicopter going to the hospital. Left a wife and 2 kids.

Thanks for the reminder, Harvest is a dangerous time sometimes we get in a hurry and either forget or don't take the time to be safe. Accidents happen too fast.

A similar thing happened to my sister many years ago. She had just tipped up a trailer load of potatoes in the shed when the hose bust on the (now empty) trailer and the whole thing came down like a rat trap. Fortunately no one got hurt as such but she got sprayed with oil!

I put this mechanical lock on my F2 Gleaner, using a JD dummy cylinder. On the way to the welding shop, the steel line feeding the lift cylinder broke from rust, and the feeder house dropped down.
